It’s about time our hospital was built

I HAVE read in the Littlehampton Gazette (March, 10) of the fears over the rebuilding of Littlehampton Community Hospital, due to government reforms.

Let us not forget the health authority has promised to rebuild the hospital for years, and has steadfastly failed to deliver on this promise.

Now a public/private partnership has been formed and funding to rebuild the hospital has been secured (for the second time).

The partnership intends to make the rebuilding its first priority.

If we are going to be told, owing to the economic climate and cutbacks, that money is no longer available to rebuild the hospital, then it stands to reason that neither the planned £12million-plus extension to Worthing Hospital, nor the relocation of vital services from Worthing to Shoreham and Chichester hospitals can go ahead for the same reason.

It’s about time the health authority honoured its promise to rebuild.

Tell us when the hospital will be rebuilt, and what services will be available.
