It’s the minority who give us senior citizens a bad name

I read, with interest, the letter from Mrs W Davies titled ‘Disappointed by behaviour’ in the April 3 edition click here to read.

I must agree with Mrs Davies about the behaviour of some senior citizens.

My husband has COPD and is classed as one of the ‘vulnerable’ people during this Covid 19 pandemic.

We went to Tesco at Lottbridge Drove last Friday during the hours of 9am to 10am and joined the queue to do our weekly shopping.

Tesco does have this queuing system down to a fine art.

When entering the store an assistant cleaned the trolley and told us that it was only four to an aisle and to follow the arrows, no problem.

We had only got to the vegetable aisle, having followed the arrows and keeping four to an aisle, when we saw some senior citizens flouting the advice and when we suggested that they follow the arrows the answer was: “Why should we?”

My husband is nearly 70, and uses a walking stick, and I am in my 60s but we have followed the rule.

However, it is not only the senior citizens, it is the Tesco staff getting the home deliveries together.

They just carry on as if nothing has changed.

I appreciate that they have a job to do but why can’t they do this before the store opens?

It is not all senior citizens that are acting this way, but the minority gives the rest of us a bad name.
