The event, organised by Genetic Disorders UK, raises money to give care and support for children and families who are affected by a genetic disorder.

The school has supported the annual event for the last nine years. The girls paid a £2 contribution to wear jeans instead of their school uniform. The money raised on Jeans for Genes day supports very small charities.

This year Farlington is hoping to exceed last year’s fundraising total of £420.

Claudine Maude, Farlington’s Charities Co-ordinator, said: “The girls always enjoy wearing jeans to school and supporting this worthwhile charity.

“We feel it is important that students are encouraged to work with charities and to do something for the wider community.”
