John made such a difference

AS chairman of Littlehampton in Bloom and a member of Littlehampton Civic Society, I should like to pay tribute, on behalf of many, to John Coombes, who died in March.

He worked tirelessly to help many people and voluntary organisations in Littlehampton, but was always in the background, never wishing to have recognition.

I know that he felt passionately about community spirit and in fact it was he who persuaded me, as a newcomer to Littlehampton, to take on the In Bloom chairmanship.

He was always generous with his time; his contribution was enormous and he will be very sadly missed.
