Josh will be missed

MANY folk, not only in Findon, but in the wider area, will be saddened at the loss of Josh Gifford.

While I did not know him personally, some of his family and employees have crossed my path in the past, in the nicest possible way.

In another life, I had stables at Castle Goring for more than 11 years and during that time I constructed a cross-country course and organised a big event in the autumn for several years.

Althea Gifford, Josh’s daughter, competed in and won the senior open event.

Watching their mother were her two children, one of whom is Tina, now of international riding fame.

I also worked for Ryan Price, the flat race trainer, who had his stables next to Josh and I knew Maggie and Ron James, who were employees of Josh. Josh would be often seen around the stables and the village and he was always a very personable man known and loved in the area around Findon.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Maybe he will be riding a white charger up there somewhere?
