Kindness and care beyond expectation

THE week before last I was rushed to A&E at Worthing Hospital with a suspected "T.I.A." (mini-stroke). I was naturally quite worried and apprehensive, especially having a certain amount of medical knowledge gained from years of nursing.

The doctors and nurses conducted an extensive battery of tests and could not have been more helpful and reassuring. They treated me as if I were the only patient in this busy department.

The following day I was seen in Dr Kelly's "rapid response" clinic and further tests were carried out. Again, the staff were kind, courteous and professional, ensuring that no questions went unanswered.

Two days later I was given an MRI scan and fixed up with an appointment for an echocardiogram and 24-hour ECG. Just superb service!

One hears so many adverse comments about the NHS that I felt I had to relate my own experience to redress the balance a little. I was really pleased to be able to say: "I trained at this hospital!", albeit many years ago!
