Lack of balance

MY husband and I are caravanners and have recently toured the UK.

Nowhere outside major towns and cities have we seen house building on the scale that has been, and is, taking place along our stretch on the coast.

We travelled across the midlands, along the M15 heading towards Lincoln, across the top of the country via Lancashire and down the west coast through Wales and back along the south coast.

We went through towns and villages on our trip and noticed the absence of house building.

Just mile upon mile of beautiful empty countryside.

So much empty space.

The influx is not spread out evenly across the county but concentrated on this local section.

It is so dense between Worthing and Bognor Regis that I feel the country has been upended and all the people have dropped to the bottom.

I have lived here all my life. There are four generations of my family locally.

I don’t want to be squeezed out but it’s now so claustrophobic.

How can so many houses be built, but not one new road to accommodate all the extra traffic.

Let’s have no more discussions about how many houses should be built over the next few years.

My answer is none. Where applicable, empty shops should be used for living accommodation.
