Every Thursday when we clap and thank our wonderful NHS and frontline workers, it moves me to stop and give those moments, to reflect on appreciating how much they are doing, at this stressful time.

Also I’m having to ask, why they are still not being given the financial respect and support they need and deserve?

Surely it would help reduce the spread of this awful virus, if the staff had the choice to stay in local hotels, which are now empty.

This would reduce their fears and risks of possibly spreading infection to families and friends.

And some having to use public transport, adding precious time, to their already overworked day.

The expenses could covered by the government making a substantial, upfront lump sum, a well deserved bonus, immediately payable to each of these incredible workers.

If £10,000 is to be made available to every MP, to cover them working safely from home, then giving this bonus should not be a difficulty at all!

Sadly, it seems once again, that governments are getting priorities over financial rewards.

Wrong again!
