Let’s work together

I AM responding to Marian Ayres’ letter “Creativity and vision” (Gazette, February 2).

This was a very positive response to the problems of child poverty in the area.

As Marian rightly said, if everyone works together, i.e. political parties, social services, churches, health groups, etc., for the common good, then lasting change can happen.

This letter was not one of blame or criticism, but rather of a vision of what could be if all groups work together, using their skills and experience to bring about change.

Any town councillor willing to hold a surgery and listen to its people I see as a very positive move in dealing with this important issue.

To hear that Morrisons has got the go-ahead to trade in Wick must be viewed as a positive move to bring jobs and economic benefit into the community.

The local Wick shops must not close, as elderly people and families also rely on these smaller convenience stores for their friendly, personal service.
