LETTER: A right old Quango they have got into

With reference to the North Horsham Green Belt projected Housing Development and our current Horsham District ‘Conservative’ councillors, may I point out that UKIP local government policy would have provided a most welcome and acceptable solution. Namely, a local constituents referenda, the outcome of which would be binding.

Unfortunately we are now subject to and suffering from Francis Maude MP’s modernist Tory leader David Cameron’s own imposed creative, the Bristol based and so-called independent Housing Appeals Planning Office which doesn’t have to and probably will not take a blind bit of notice of Horsham residents’ present lodged objections: ditto over HDC councillors’ deafness also.

The Tories here of course find themselves in a dilemma of their own making. Their party has already thrown out the baby (previously tried and trusted actual Conservative policies) with the bath water (previous Conservative subscribed members and their supporters).

The Bristol based outfit amounts to a Quango which system - unelected and unaccountable, a charge on taxpayer electorate also - our Francis Maude MP purports to be ridding us of on the grounds of cost, though not this particular Cameron invention about which Francis Maude remarkably remains silent.

The UKIP local government Referenda Policy widely circulated in our 2010 Manifesto is straight talking isn’t it?

QED (Quod Erat Demonstrandum) Mr L N Price!

Common sense, just what Horsham needs, our country also. That is UKIP for you and, when the electorate get their chance to cross their ballot form at future elections both local and national – and there is nearby North Horsham and Rusper by-election due soon – perhaps Maude and Cameron’s modernist Tories will reap their just reward.

A right old Quango they have both got themselves into, a Pickles to add flavour and to savour perhaps when the electoral outcome is known. (Mr Pickles, Tory Local Government, Communities Minister!)
