LETTER: Be ashamed

I am just back from a circular walk from Washington Village onto the South Downs Way and back to Washington.

I was disgusted to find a vast amount of rubbish disgarded on the very short section that crosses the A24.

There were even a couple of filled plastic bags which could have been carried home.

I found an empty plastic bag that I was able to use to carry the loose rubbish back to my car.

There was a range of rubbish, including a foil balloon, drinks tins, takeaway containers, crisp packets and plastic drinks bottles.

The litter louts should be ashamed of themselves on such a beautiful area of the South Downs Way. I’ve included the above photo to show the amount collected on an area of about 50 yards.
