LETTER: Biggest majority in council’s history

I write to thank the very many voters throughout Horsham District who voted to keep a Conservative-run council and returned it with the biggest majority in the council’s history.

It was equally gratifying to see that the district voted so very strongly for our two MPs, Nick Herbert and Jeremy Quin, and my council colleagues and I look forward to working with them.

To my own electorate in Storrington, Washington and Amberley I send particular thanks.

You elected three Conservatives with big majorities and my personal vote was very high and I am grateful for such a solid show of support.

While I am very pleased at such a strong result, I do recognise that issues and problems do not magically disappear overnight and we shall have to work together in the new council to face these.

Equally, I fully realise that not everyone supported my party with their vote but that we are there to try to do our best for all the people of the district regardless of how they voted.

My thanks again.

RAY DAWE

(Con, Chantry) Leader of Horsham District Council, North Street, Horsham
