LETTER: Dangerous pollutants

In addition to all the unacceptable disadvantages to local people arising from an expansion to Gatwick's activities, as outlined by CAGNE in last week's edition, there is the issue of pollution.

The aircraft flying in and out of Gatwick dump massive amounts of dangerous pollutants over our homes and into our atmosphere every day and night. Apparently the authorities at Gatwick think that we should be pleased that their proposals will lead to more of Sussex being built on (but not for local people), more congestion on our transport infrastructure (is that possible?) etc, whilst at the same time being showered from above with toxic pollutants. Perhaps Gatwick’s bosses are unconcerned that they will be successfully contributing to making Climate Change worse, this at a time when politicians world wide have accepted that combating Climate Change is the most important issue facing our planet?
