LETTER: Do you want more of the same?

As indicated by Robert Worley’s letter, the County Times did well to expose possible abuse of office by Horsham District Council.

It is also interesting that two people who spoke strongly against the Horsham District Planning Framework (HDPF) at the recent Planning Inspector’s hearing, apparently wish to stand as Tory councillors. They seem to support the party that introduced the National Planning Policy Framework, which negated Localism.

Readers may also recall that advisory group meetings (SPAG) relating to the HDPF, were held behind closed doors. That was decided by the HDC ruling group that uses a secretive Cabinet system and party whip, with many members who are uncomfortable with the County Times’ Free Speech Charter.

So, it is inexplicable now that two people who have strong concerns at the way in which the HDPF was pursued, should want to join the HDC ruling group that was responsible for it and for the culture of secrecy behind it.

If residents’ memories are short then the secretive Tory Group could return to power again in May and we can expect more of the same.

The question for residents is do you want more of the same?
