LETTER: Excellent show from HAODS

The review of HAODS’ production of ‘The Sound of Music’ was very complimentary but could perhaps have been even more so.

Surprisingly there was no mention of the Mother Abbess’ wonderful ‘Climb Ev’ry Mountain’ or the amusing ‘The Lonely Goatherd’ yodel song with its lively and amusing puppetry ensemble. Captain von Trapp’s ‘good’ and Rolf’s ‘convincing’ performances could have been described as ‘superb’ and ‘excellent’ which was the general view.

The talented 12 piece orchestra apparently ‘deserved a round of applause’.

They certainly got that at the end of the show from the prolonged, vociferous standing ovation from the 425 people in Saturday evening’s sellout audience. Many commented afterwards that they would not have enjoyed a better musical in London’s West End.

I am not associated with HAODS or any of its members but have seen most of their productions since the mid-1950s.
