LETTER: Fantastic help from Red Cross

I would like everyone to know about the fantastic help we received from the Red Cross on Sunday 26th January following a power cut on Saturday 25th January.

The ‘tornado’ that swept through our grounds at 5.45pm on the Saturday caused a large part of three trees to fall and pull down the electricity cables coming into the main building (the power was restored after 26 hours!).

Our staff coped extremely well in a difficult situation and their job was made easier when the Red Cross came with a generator to boil water for endless cups of tea and coffee and for washing.

I can’t praise them enough and I am sure that without their help we may have had to evacuate our residents.

Well done the Red Cross.
