LETTER: Flag criticism

Pathetic of Mr Stewart (Letters, July 9) to criticise Arun Valley’s ATC on the condition of their flag during Armed Forces Day, saying he was ‘disgusted’.

It beggars belief!

I’m surprised he didn’t call for one of their volunteers to be court-martialed!

Does he not realise that, along with other clubs and organisations in our town, they rely on donations and are run by volunteers who give up so much of their own time to run such clubs?

As I know myself, every last penny has to be accounted for and perhaps their budget may not be stretched to paying in excess of £250 for one of these embroidered flags.

I suggest Mr Stewart, given the flag bothered you so much that you wrote a letter in to the Gazette pressing your ‘disgust’, that you write another letter to Arun Valley ATC offering to buy them a new flag.

I’m sure your donation would be gratefully accepted.
