LETTER: Gather support

WHEN I first heard that the Barclays Bank at Rose Green was set for closure, I thought to myself ‘thank God we have NatWest to fall back on’.

How wrong was I, when as a customer of NatWest for over 50 years, I get a letter to advise that NatWest will also close on March 16.

Customer service is paramount in any service industry, in fact I’ve had a sign hanging in my office for years saying ‘Rule No 1 – If we do not look after the customer, somebody else will’.

They do not deserve customers if they do not look after them.

The closure of both banks will devastate the local community, both private customers as well as businesses.

We need to stand up to these banks, and demand that they service their customers as they – the customers – want to be serviced.

We need to gather support and momentum to save at least one of these branches.
