LETTER: Give locals a fighting chance

Recently reading in my West Sussex County Times it showed the increased demand for ‘local’ food banks in Horsham and district. At the same time an article in The Times newspaper 23.11.14 explained that West Sussex is one of the most rural areas in England with the average sale price of £401,867.00 for houses. So where do our local residents who want to stay in the area go?

The excitement of the new John Lewis business coming to Horsham will not meet everybody’s aspiration.

Why are our local council not helping more with social and ‘affordable’ housing? It always seems to be a reduced percentage of what it should be. To make way for expensive houses for mainly new residents can we not sometimes give Horsham and district residents a fighting chance to have their own homes.
