LETTER: Give us a lovely Christmas tree

I could not believe my eyes when I read in the County Times that we will not be having a Christmas tree in Horsham this year as the council cannot afford it!

They have just spent more than £600,000 on ‘improving’ West Street and yet they begrudge spending out for a Christmas tree - what a bunch of ‘Bah Humbug’ Scrooges!

To my mind the amount spent on West Street is extortionate and unnecessary.

Their reckoning is that it will attract trade and visitors - hardly likely when we have no H. Samuel, Monsoon, Mothercare or Early Learning.

Having no Christmas tree is definitely not going to attract visitors either.

I still cannot quite believe it. Come on Horsham District Council - give us a lovely tree and make us proud of Horsham, not ashamed.

Happy Christmas!
