LETTER: Helena Croft is no reject

In your election ‘Comment’ (May 14th p.38) you suggested that Mrs Croft was ‘rejected by her peers in Horsham and then the electorate in Henfield’!

May I point out 1,032 of us, i.e. over one third of actual voters, were IN FAVOUR of her election . . . AND she narrowing missed ousting the current chairman of Horsham District Council!

I mean no disrespect to Brian O’Connell (said gentleman) - but merely want to point out Helena Croft is no reject!

Further, I am not convinced she was ‘rejected by her peers in Horsham’ either - except by power-brokers within Horsham Conservative Association - who strangely, had just been investigated following HER complaints regarding their ‘process and procedure’ on candidate selection . . . Mmmm, interesting? Do I detect a wisp of smoke?

Personally, I still prefer Roy Cornell’s (Con,Roffey South) generous description of Helena as ‘the hardest working person he had ever met’!

Perhaps, when a vacancy becomes available, Helena might be encouraged to dust off her plumbline of integrity and dignity - if she is still of a mind to serve our community on HDC . . . in spite of your judgement, questioning ‘whether politics is the right future for her’?
