LETTER: Help for the poor and vulnerable

The Government cuts to the fund that provides support to people in crisis is morally wrong.

It is disgraceful that so many people in this country are now dependent on food banks, provided by churches and charities.

It is the responsibility of the Government to provide help for vulnerable and poor people. The introduction of the ‘bedroom tax’ and other cuts and delays to welfare benefits are causing unacceptable hardship to our fellow citizens.

It is to be hoped that the Government will reverse its decision to cut this emergency fund.
