LETTER: Horrified to see good food dumped
I have recently been horrified to see film of tons and tons of perfectly good food being dumped simply because it has reached its sell by date.
There is nothing wrong with these products which are perfectly usable for several days after this date.
Surely it is not beyond our means to process it and turn it into a nourishing soup that can be distributed among the poor desperate people in such disaster areas as the current horrors in the Philippines.
This waste can surely be reversed to do some good.
We in the overfed West should be ashamed to admit that we are throwing away so much when so many are starving.
