Letter: I’d like a simple answer about fracking

There have been some well-argued, but rather long, letters on both sides of the fracking debate in recent issues.

There have been some well-argued, but rather long, letters on both sides of the fracking debate in recent issues. However, to provide a sharper focus on one of the key issues, I would like to ask for a brief and entirely factual answer from Mr Egan and from local councils to the following:If fracking were to proceed in Balcombe or indeed anywhere else in Sussex, how much water is projected to be needed to make it viable, where will this water be obtained from, and what is the projected effect, over the next 30 years, on water levels in our underground aquifers and on the frequency of hosepipe bans and other restrictions on domestic and business use?
