LETTER: Interview alluded to Kingsfold homes

I write in response to the recent letters in the County Times expressing shock and horror that the ‘bombshell’ has been dropped that there are proposals for more houses to be built at Kingsfold along the A24, not just a few but thousands.

This has come out of the blue with no hint to the local population. I may be able to shed some light on this situation.

A few weeks ago I came across by chance on the computer an item from the County Times, entitled ‘The Interview’. The person being interviewed was councillor Liz Kitchen and the date was October 18, 2013 – yes a year ago.

The piece can be read at:

In it, she suggested that new homes could be built along the A24 between Great Daux roundabout and Capel, she was quite specific about the location.

She has signed, along with a number of members of HDC, a charter promising to be truthful and open in their dealings with the people they serve.

I just wonder if she would reveal about how much she knew and how far these proposals had gone prior to her suggesting them on October 18, 2013.

So much about development has been discussed behind closed doors, hence the need for the County Times Free Speech Charter
