LETTER: Lack of info from some candidates

I have just been to vote in the West Sussex County Council elections and - referring to Nik Butler’s item in the County Times - I do not vote according to who ‘wears the right badge’.

Apparently there were three candidates for our ward - a fact I found out only by delving into the depths of the county council website and looking through a 40-page document (I could, of course, have found this out at the polling station, but I thought it wise to know who was standing before I went to vote!).

We received advance literature from only one candidate, namely the sitting candidate, who probably least needed to canvass votes.

One wonders why the LibDem and UKIP candidates were standing if they could not even be bothered to send out literature promoting themselves, their positions, and their parties.
