LETTER: Liberty should pay full CIL charge

One of the most staggering facts to emerge from your paper was in the letter by C. Morris ‘How will shortfall be covered’ - I really could not believe what I read.

Yet another consultant has recommended to HDC that a ‘Community Infrastructure Levy’ of £125 per square metre is the right charge on developers across the District.

This CIL money is paid by the developer to HDC to ensure that infrastructure needs resulting from the development ( roads, sewers, community facilities) are met – replacing the former 106 monies.

But HDC agreed that the proposed development north of the A264 on green land should only be charged at £50 per square metre. A reduction and loss to the community over £11.5 million.

I find this quite extraordinary. If Liberty is the choice of HDCF should this proposal ever get off the ground – the message to Mr Blevins should be – the CIL charge is £125 per metre same as all the other developers.
