LETTER: Nasty individual who ran our family cat over

I have asked the editor to publish my letter in the hope it is read by the person who ran our family cat over on Sunday evening 24th April 2016.

Some people would say, “He was only a cat” but actually our adorable and beautiful two-and-a-half-year-old boy was the most inoffensive little cat you’d ever have met and didn’t have a spiteful bone in his body but despite really terrible injuries including a broken pelvis and other appalling internal injuries, dragged himself through our back gate to let us know he was there, hoping we could help.

Having spent up to today in the vets from Sunday evening we were told there was absolutely nothing further could be done for him and we, as a family, had to take the devastating decision to have him put to sleep.

He was our adored family pet and you must have known you had hit something even from his injuries alone you would have known. You have destroyed our family and not under any circumstances could we forgive you. You could have knocked on a couple of doors and tried to find out where he belonged instead of taking the coward’s way out and driving off.

The very least you can do now is make a payment of the vet’s fees which stand to date at almost £700 which I have to pay.

I hope you slept ok on Sunday and since then, you nasty horrid individual, as my family haven’t slept at all. So a big thank you from us to you.
