LETTER: Nasty surprises in the pipeline?

And we now learn that Cllr Roy Cornell (Roffey South), his replacement, has decided to increase green waste charges by 30 per cent (19.11.15, p4).

Cllr Roy Cornell of course pleased Cllr Dawe by voting against the motion to delete the North Horsham strategic site on June 24.

And last week in another recorded vote he, along with Cllr Adrian M. Lee (Denne) were the only two town members to vote for building in the Strategic Gap of North Horsham.

One wonders what other nasty surprises the new cabinet member Cllr Roy Cornell has planned for us since increases in waste charging was not in the Conservative Manifesto I received in April.

Is Cllr Cornell going to introduce other changes that we didn’t know about?

Can Cllr Cornell promise us that our waste, as well as our recyclable materials, will be collected weekly and not fortnightly or every three weeks as some ‘radical’ councils have done?

Maintaining weekly waste bin collections was in the local Conservative Party’s manifesto in April but Cllr Dawe seems to appoint people to his cabinet that agree with what suits him at the time.

It will be an interesting wait, particularly as I am querying direct with HDC, why they are keen to spend £4.5 million of our taxpayers’ money on a new waste vehicle repair facility that has had no proper business case put forward to justify such an expense and may not necessarily be required.
