LETTER: Need to protect our countryside

We would like to lodge our objection to the proposal of building on greenbelt land and in particular the one suggested for the area adjacent to the A264.

In addition to the extra noise and pollution this would create and the drain on resources, we should be pro-tecting our countryside.

In recent years we have been continually reminded that some of our wildlife are in decline and we are in danger of losing them completely and we should be doing more to protect them.

This has been evident with the recent adverts and promotions by the RSPCA and farmers being encouraged to create hedgerow in their fields for wildlife to thrive.

More should be done to convert unused brownfield sites to support expansion and not encroach on our precious countryside.

Once it’s built on, it will be lost forever.

Horsham is steeped in history and we should be doing everything we can to protect this lovely country market town from being swallowed up.

The countryside surround-ing Horsham is outstanding, please don’t destroy it.

Mr and Mrs Pleasant

Ropeland Way, Horsham
