Similarly, some advertised opinions of various local developments can give an unrepresentative impression of what people really think of controversial plans and buildings.

John Nicholson’s letter, criticising the so-called Littlehampton Bandstand, confirms my own view that considers this a travesty of a traditional Seaside Bandstand because of its very limited capacity and total reliance on good weather.

Other very controversial nearby developments include the East Bank Cafe, with some people considering it an irrelevant eyesore out of keeping with its environment; and the ‘longest bench’ with its impractical seating.

No doubt, there are some supporters of these structures, but my point is that they are out of place and probably not acceptable to the majority of residents and visitors!

A wider range of opinions would be welcome in any similar new scheme.

Would not two or three suitably designed shelters against inclement weather be more popular or useful?

Yours sincerely,
