LETTER: Quite a hat trick from Mrs Croft

I write regarding the letter by Mr Blair-Fish (WSCT 28.5.15).

He omitted an important part of the chronology in the build up to the unprecedented act of the electorate in rejecting Mrs Helena Croft, the former deputy leader of Horsham District Council.

Mrs Croft was rejected by her peers at an Executive Meeting of the full Horsham Conservative Association on February 14 as reported in this paper on February 19. Horsham Conservative Association stated to this paper that Mrs Croft and Mr Jim Rae had jointly made complaints to the National Conservative Party Board about their Conservative Association, all of which had been wholly rejected (WSCT 19.2.15, p1).

Following this Jim Rae immediately resigned his membership of the Conservative Party but Mrs Croft decided to take her chances with the electorate in Henfield, which is some 13 miles south from the ward of Roffey North that she once represented.

The comment (WSCT 14.5.15) is correct in that not only was Mrs Croft rejected by her peers but also by the electorate. But what should also be added is that the Board of the National Conservative Party also rejected her complaints. That’s quite a hat-trick for upsetting people and organisations. Mrs Croft might wish to spend her enforced retirement reading the seminal book by Dale Carnegie ‘How to win friends and influence people’ (first published in 1937 and available from all good bookshops).
