LETTER: Road changes in new development

I would like to point out a couple of clarifications concerning your March 12th article about road closures around the new developments to the west of Horsham.

Firstly, your report has quoted extensively and used diagrams from TRO/HON9007/RC (available via the West Sussex County Council website) in your article.

The TRO states that, ‘Although the new A264 will be street-lit, as it is a dual carriageway with limited junctions it will be subject to a 40mph speed limit.

There will also be no direct access from the new development to maximise the free-flow of traffic using it.’

This cannot be correct as parts of the new development can only be accessed from the dual carriageway.

The author of the TRO has confused the fact that nobody from the new development will be able to access the new east–west link road from Wickhurst Lane (although present residents around Broadbridge Farm will have left in, left out access).

Secondly, the planning application for the neighbourhood centre (DC/15/0284 available via the Horsham District Council website) has been submitted and is asking for permission to vary the section 106 agreement so that the neighbourhood centre no longer includes a health care facility or restaurant/public house.

The reasons for this are explained in the Design and Access Statement.
