LETTER: Sighting of large cat-like animal

About a year or so ago my husband and I did see a large dark coloured animal in the distance along a country lane in Wisborough Green. It was daylight and my husband was driving along Newpound Lane in Wisborough Green past Fishers Farm. Quite a way past, the road narrowed and on a straight part of the road we both saw a large animal up ahead in the middle of the road.

At first we thought it was a dog (similar size to a black labrador), but as we got closer we saw that the animal was walking slowly across the road and had a very long tail. There was a row of houses on the right and a bank on the left with a field behind.

It all happened very quickly but we saw the animal leap up onto the bank and disappear through the hedge. There was no sign of it as we drove past but it certainly moved and looked like a large cat.
