We have had, and probably still have, terrapins in the Ditchling pond. Terrapins will eat anything and everything, certainly ducklings and fish.

Both ducks and fish eat flies.

The absence of both ducks and fish has allowed the proliferation of flies around the pond. That’s my theory!
