I was truly moved by Ian Cunningham's letter ('˜Thanks for night shelters', Opinion, February 23).

I understand from Ginny Cassell, of Storm Ministries, that from November to March each year between 12 and 15 churches in our town host homeless guests or send volunteers to help at centres.

During 2014/16, attendees have grown from 26 to 71, while individual nights of shelter have risen from 277 to 1,157. In addition, there are weekly sessions at Storm House to, as Ginny says, ‘help the guests sort out their reasons for being homeless and start to put things in place to resolve them’.

Other groups, such as Worthing Churches Homeless Projects and St Mungo’s, are also present.

Perhaps some of your readers may consider helping as volunteers? Those who do show that Worthing is a caring town.
