LETTER: Unexpected levels of aircraft noise

This is an open letter to Horsham’s Conservative MP, Francis Maude.

Dear Mr Maude

This is an open letter to you, which I hope will appear in the West Sussex County Times.

Many residents will have breathed a sigh of relief, when the Gatwick trial (of alternative flight paths) finished some months ago.

However, some residents seem to be once again experiencing unexpected levels of aircraft noise, and I have sent the following request to the Noise Complaints Line at [email protected]

“Having received complaints about increased aircraft noise from residents around North Horsham, I would appreciate sight of your complaint statistics to date, during and after the recent Flight Trials. Hopefully the information will show not only trends in the number of complaints, but also their geographical distribution.’’

I have since found that complaints have come from as far out as Slinfold and it would be helpful if you could reinforce the above request for information. We might then be able to deduce what further flight path changes have taken place, seemingly without warning or consultation. Many thanks.

ROGER ARTHUR

Horsham district councillor for Chanctonbury ward and UKIP parliamentary candidate for Horsham, North Street, Horsham
