LETTER: Value of the EU

I’m worried about Britain sleep-walking out of the EU.

The British public want to be told the truth about what the stark economic, political and social realities of exiting the EU would mean.

As a supporter of the ‘Yes’ campaign I want to see stronger leadership across the board so British people know the EU provides 57 per cent of our trade, cheaper mobile charges, cheaper air travel, funded opportunities for young people, EU-funded scientific research and cross-border policing.

Our democratically elected MEPs and our ministers are working with elected representatives from across Europe to set standards and encourage businesses to help all our economies become stronger in a world of global trade.

This is the true value of the EU, and we should be learning about it now as our PM travels around negotiating on our behalf.
