LETTER: VE celebration is remembered

Regarding Memory Lane and the photo on page 81 of the County Times of May 7, the place is not Hampers Field.

The celebration for VE Day at the street party was Barrington Road. This I am very sure of as the lady with the baby in the pram was my beloved sister Alice, the baby being that of my nephew David.

I am also in the picture, not facing but I am waving a handkerchief at my nephew David.

My family lived in Station Road, which is adjacent to Barrington Road.

Oh, what memories this has for me, some so good and some not, but we have a same photo. Sadly I lost my sister, who served in the ATS with her twin sister Evelyn during the war.

I was very proud of them.
