Sunday May 18 saw Brownies, from all over Sussex Central Girlguiding County, meeting at Southwater Country Park to take part in their Annual Canoe Regatta.

This regatta has been running for over 20 years now thanks to the dedicated team of Girlguiding Leaders who organise the event.

This year also sees The Big Brownie Birthday events celebrating 100 years of the formation of Brownies.

Events are being held all over the county and Horsham is holding a Division Big Brownie Birthday Camp for 50 Brownies and their Leaders.

Brownies from Horsham are also taking part in The Big Brownie Birthday Sleepover which is being held at the AMEX Stadium, home of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club.

Some 900 girls will be having a fabulous time at the stadium.

It is sad that in this 100th year of Brownies several Brownie Units and one Rainbow Unit in Horsham will be closing at the end of this term through lack of volunteers to lead the units.

So a plea to all of you who enjoyed your time in Rainbows, Brownies and Guides and also to those of you who have yet to be a member of the largest female organisation in the world.

Come and join us and make sure Brownies can carry on for another 100 years.

For further information on how to join us register your interest through: www.girlguiding.org.uk and someone from the Horsham Division will contact you.
