LETTER: Voters should be more courageous

In response to Dr Geoffrey Richardson’s recent letter, I am fairly sure that people voting in local council elections, because they know little about the individuals at the time, make their choice based on the national party they are affiliated to.

I wonder how many people voting for these particular councillors now really believe that their views are being represented. I do not know of anybody that supports the North Horsham development, if they exist they are certainly in the minority.

I will also be disappointed to see the party whipping machine in progress resulting in these councillors not voting in line with the people they were elected to represent instead favouring party political choices.

When our next elections are due, voters should be more courageous and look at the independent candidates, people who are more likely to truly represent the people who vote for them.
