LETTER: We should use our freedom to vote

Edmund Burke was an 18th century political philosopher and statesman famous now for his often quoted passages (words in parenthases have been added) such as:

‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men (and women) to do nothing’  and ‘Nobody made a greater mistake than he (she) who did nothing because he(she) could do only a little’.

Our forefathers died to give us the freedom to vote that we can exercise on 7 May in both national and local elections. We also have the freedom to express our views about the way our current Council has dealt with the housing issue by going on line www.savingnorthhorsham.co.uk and using the e-petition. Each cross and each signature may be ‘only a little’ – but not to use that freedom would surely be a mistake?
