LETTER: Why should shops pay more?

We may see a logical reason for local rates to be charged on domestic houses.

But why should shops and commerce pay more than a nominal rate? A tax or levy can presumably be charged on the turnover of a business in this country.

Part or all of which may be paid to local authorities or councils.

As to Brexit. We may have a United States of Europe.

An isolationist Britain, as is threatened for the USA.

Or perhaps, as ever, there is a third choice of co-operative internationalism.
