Marriage debased

FIFTY years ago, a social institution such as marriage was quite clearly based on a sensible, monogamous, European humanist and Christian tradition.

Today, it has become anything on more than two legs of any kind.

The change has evidently arisen through this country becoming “multi-cultural”.

In order to maintain a show of national unity, ingrained differences have had to be accommodated.

The easy solution has been to reduce a social institution to little more than personal whim and tax breaks.

Unity between religions is now all the rage, so that young people may wonder why different religions exist.
