Meaningless awards

FOLLOWING on from the front-page lead story of last week I hope that the Chief Constable can find time for a few words of appreciation for the two police officers attacked by a violent drunk.

It is evident, judging by the article, also from last week, concerning the honours bestowed on two unsuspecting officers from Bexhill Police Station, that the Chief Constable has time on his hands to dream up such management-speak meaningless awards.

I feel embarassed for the frontline officers dealing with the public if this is an example of senior police management priorities.

I trust that the costs incurred in staging this nonsense, including the “special lunch”, have not been met from the public purse, and assume that the awards for thief-taking and collar-feeling have been quietly dropped following complaints from the criminal minority.
