Memorial must be preserved

WITH the possibility of future development at the Steam Packet pub in Terminus Road, Littlehampton, I am concerned that, tucked away mounted on the boundary wall, is a memorial plaque dedicated to soldiers who fought in the First World War, showing their names and ranks.

It is imperative that this plaque is removed before any development takes place.

But even if the development doesn't go ahead, should it stay there?

How many people know that it is there?

If it does stay, then I believe that it should be made more prominent for all to see.

If it is removed, I would hope that discussions will take place to decide if the plaque should be re-sited in its original place once the development is finished, or should it be placed elsewhere, so everyone can see it?

What ever happens, this plaque is another piece of Littlehampton's historic past and must be preserved for the future, with no issue to cost.
