Over 40 players have already signed up for the new Horsham Central League initiative running at Collyer’s College in Hurst Road, Horsham, on Friday nights starting in early October.

Adopting a centralised and active format this venture is bringing together players of all ages and abilities in teams of three players across three divisions in a modern and exciting way in one of the best facilities for the sport in Sussex.

There are still a few places left so don’t delay and get signed up!

Table tennis is a great activity that families can play together and two new sessions will specifically cater for such participation.

The Friday Family Play sessions at Collyer’s will precede the Central League and will run on Fridays between 6pm and 7:30pm and allow people to play how they choose, whether just for fun, matches or taking advantage of the coaching expertise from experienced Head Coach, Martin Jezisek, that will be available.

The Southwater Family Club will run on a similar basis at the Southwater Junior Academy in Southwater on Mondays between 5pm and 6:30pm under coach and top player Amila Thilikarathne.

Adults who are keen to improve also have the opportunity of dedicated coaching provision on Monday nights at Greenway School in Horsham, which is Horsham Table Tennis Club’s main base.

Juniors who want to get ahead can do so via various groups at Greenway running on Monday and Tuesday nights.

Kids with talent and commitment also feed into other higher level sessions that the club runs or have connections with.

Horsham Table Tennis Club has an excellent record of feeding youngsters into county teams – Holly Holder and George Hazell being two current high flyers – but the Club is keen to develop more star talent.

Another new opportunity for the coming season will be practice match play nights at Collyer’s on Sundays from 5pm to 7pm for beginner/improver players and 7pm to 9pm for established players.

These sessions will help players hone their skills and tactics in match action.

Cllr Sue Rogers, Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for a Safer and Healthier District, said:

“It’s great to see that by working together we are able to offer more opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in this fun sport.
