More parking permits in Chichester are just so unnecessary

I would like to comment on the proposal to enforce parking permits on the whole of Chichester.

Driving into my estate tonight I noticed a small poster attached to the first pole in Windsor Road (on the Arundel Park Estate). On it it informs me that new parking management is being considered. I have not noticed any other posters through the estate.

I am appalled that this tiny, lone sign is seen as an adequate way in which to inform residents that soon they could be paying to park their cars in the lay-bys and roads outside their properties.

I have lived in Buckingham Drive for over six years now and have never experienced problems parking. Why then is my estate being drawn into a parking permit scheme? I will have to either pave my front garden to park our second car on it, or pay for a permit to cover the two hours a day, five days a week that it needs to sit there. And if my daughter wants to bring my expected grandchild to see me I will have to purchase another permit for the times she comes visiting – or kick her out during 10-11am or 1pm-2pm.

Living so far out from the centre of Chichester, I believe it to be 1.7 miles, I never expected to be dragged into something that can only be seen as unnecessary, additional tax.

This needs to be halted now. I hope the Observer is doing everything in their power to get this out to the citizens of Chichester.
