More postal problems

WITH reference to last week's Observer report, Parcels pile up at town delivery office, there must also be a problem with delivery of letters as, in this area, we are only getting our post on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the last two weeks and this can arrive any time from 1.30pm until late afternoon.

Among the mail on Friday last was a card to say: “Unfortunately we can’t deliver your item because there’s a fee to pay. The sender didn’t pay the full postage – payment due £1.19.”

The Post Office, it seems, can deliver when they wish and meeting their required part of a contract to deliver a first class letter the next day can be broken, but still have the effrontery to ask for a payment.

What is going on at Bexhill town delivery office? I am sure it is not our postmen and women at fault, and is this the service we are to expect in the future?
