Moving on to the next chapter

It seems only like yesterday I began the Summer Bible Reading Challenge using the five paperback '˜novel' approach, but today (Sunday) is Day 19 and we have completed the first paperback - the Law. Tomorrow we begin the second paperback - the History.

I must mention various local churches where friends have been very supportive: St Marks Little Common, St Paul’s Free church, Sidley Baptist, St Stephens, Christchurch Methodist. Sorry if I have missed anyone out. Also friends on Facebook not just local, across Britain, but also around the world.

What is particularly pleasing is when people tell me they have picked up the Bible after stopping reading.

A lady in Canada contacted me to say my shared reading had got her starting reading the Bible daily again after giving up in hard times.

A local lady began Bible reading daily after a 40-year gap. She had read the Bible with her husband when first married, then went to church for all those years but never read the Bible at home.

My daily sharing got her started and supported her in the early stages. A lady in Little Common said she was still reading the previous shared reading, but would also read that day’s.

I realise a lot of people are watching and waiting. It will take some time for them to get involved. Some have got their Bibles out and have them next to them now. I have seen this with people I visit. They point out to me that their Bible is now always next to them. You can join me any day on Facebook, just add Paul Minter as a friend, or speak to me at one of the churches above. If you attend a different church I am happy to pop in or visit you.
